雪の中、劉備（りょうび）主従が孔明（こうめい）を訪ねていく場面を描いています。当時は名もなき身分であった孔明に対し、劉備は自ら三度も訪問を重ねて礼を尽くすことで、やっと孔明を迎えることができました。
