A quick step-by-step on making fur in Affinity Designer. I kept different layers to allow me to adjust the layer setting and not have to go to each line when adjusting the blend mode and the opacity.

You can make one balloon e.g. a bright red and then use HSL adjustment layers to change the colours - or go in and colour the base shape [and the lighter shape inside the clip and the knot shapes] individually.

Expanding the solid brush strokes and combining the resulting curves via a Boolean 'Add' or a compound object creates a curve for exporting or use as a clipping mask].

@Foxinkling You don't need a pen, a graphic tablet, an iPad, an Apple pencil... You can do it just as well with a mouse - I would even go as far as do it better with a mouse.

It starts to be really annoying. Cramps, pains, and aches stop me from getting a decent night's sleep. Lying in bed trying to relax and the legs go into overdrive and flood the system with neural pain followed by massive cramps [also triggered by the damaged nerves].
