QRT with your art hands
i need to get better at hands, but heres a few in a variety of styles! https://t.co/RJXavCgrDK
Another advantage to gamutting is, if you want to make something look unnatural in the piece (eg. magic), use a very saturated version of a colour you left out. in my case that would be teal. Look how the rim lighting sticks out
Step 1: Sketch
> I keep it loose at this stage, and try to focus on bold 2d shapes while also conveying form, often with flowing 3d shapes (these will be made blocky later)
Step 2: Colours
> This is just a rough, and will be used as a ref for when i start adding colour to lineart
Reposting thse pieces from 2020 bc i feel like i peaked here ;;
Found out i nearly failed an exam today, after consistently getting THE top grade on other modules. SO did a quick sketch to cheer myself up. Back to comm work now (where ill get to use this style practice to full effect)
Been working on redefining and redesigning some OCs, SO here is Al, prince regent of the South, painted in the style of JC Leyendecker (can you see it?)
Really proud of this one, so likes, shares and comments all appreciated! More info on this guy: https://t.co/AsVgNF5EPM
some evidence im thinking about more carefully abt colour now - started doing colour sketches when planning pieces
Quick knockup of Al's armour! will go back and do a more ref friendly version soon in prep for artfight
