Marvel should be embarrassed by putting this out. There’s so much to unpack here in how awful this variant is. I just… no!

It’s fucking ugly art, horribly illustrated and colored, with gross depictions of the female body, male gaze, and what even is this subject matter?

This image from Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 6) #5 is a beautiful rendition of Aunt May from @TheRealJRJr1 and, while it is wordless, @zebwells' script filled it with meaning. Another classic Aunt May moment. I agree with her sentiment, "It's good to see you, Peter."

So, Tombstone gives him one (we don't yet know if he brought Crime Master in on his plan) and has White Rabbit direct Spider-Man to it. But, "This has gotta be loud" is the first clue we have that Tombstone is looking to draw Spider-Man into his trap.

Which brings me to the first arc of @zebwells' Amazing Spider-Man, where Spider-Man butts into Tombstone's dealings and ignites a Gang War between rival mobsters looking to take over Kingpin's vacant seat at the head of NYC crime. Tombstone is pissed.

This issue follows up Amazing Spider-Man #344-345, the introduction of Cletus Kasady who would go on to become Carnage. (March, 1991)

This letter would ultimate spawn a great deal of letters printed in Spider-Man comics over the next few months, starting in Amazing Spider-Man #346's letters page.

I cannot express how much shocking fun I’ve had with this new SPIDER-MAN 2099: EXODUS series so far. @thesteveorlando has expanded the universe in ways I never imagined. 2099 has tried to come back before, this time I hope it is here to stay.

These fit my rule of depicting an image that matches the interior content and is striking enough to be memorable.

I mean, once I stop drooling and can assess just how much of a hit my wallet is about to receive.
