In the world of my (work in progress) comic Resonance with @martymuses Charlie the vampire and his cryptid hunting bff Ethan find and exterminate magical creatures in the rural Wilds of Missouri and the greater Midwest. They're background characters but I love them so much.
But for real, Thomas Blackshear and Dr. John Biggers were as known to me as Picasso or Van Gogh. A folk artist, Dr. Biggers displayed much of his art all over Houston, including many colleges and schools. There is a very famous mural of his here.
