@thearielbee And there's a whole period in the New52 where she's working for the LoA, but they can't keep her motivation straight. In one arc she's a fanatic believer, in another she's only there out of some vague "debt", in another she's an even bigger fanatic than Ra's... shit's a mess.
... situation is far more unique. Someone who goes with the flow so much that even when the flow seemingly turns against her, she still rides with it.
@empatheticcain I think the problem with Tynion's Shiva is that they *teased* her to be more complex, but she really wasn't. They left all these cryptic clues about why she left Ra's & how she wasn't really evil, but at the end of the day, she was still trying to nuke Gotham & make Cass kill.
@MayonettaMatty @AnneComics Yup, and their backstory is kinda fun: after a hugely destructive human civil war, the Ecclesiarchy, which is the empire's religious arm, was forbidden from commanding "men under arms."
And then they basically went "Oh hey, I noticed y'all didn't mention women."
#YoungJusticePhantoms spoilers:
I feel like the writers for this ep must've enjoyed James Tynion IV's League of Shadows arc. It has the same "Lady Shiva is an even bigger zealot that Ra's" idea, it's about Cass as Orphan rejecting her mom who's trynna make her into a killer...
