Mega Man, to throw a bit of a loop into things. Realized how much Ashe stood out among player characters (thrillseeker following her instincts rather than an angsty do-gooder or walking identity crisis) and Prometheus has both a messed up background and utterly glorious ham.
Fire Emblem (but whoops all 3 Houses edition because I've realized I kinda need to rethink why I like the characters that I do that came before and its cast is the strongest overall).
Trails (but I'm more honest with myself and don't completely prioritize "objectivity" edition). Agate, Randy, Richard, and Alisa are all close contenders here.
Tales. Don't talk about it as much (like I talk about anything much unprompted), but there's definitely some characters I really like.
I'll admit I have a definite liking for "uncanny valley" designs that merge human and completely inhuman/obviously mechanical traits.
And, for better and for worse, it's almost exclusively utilized in female designs.
And lastly WO. 4 OCs get the monopoly because their movesets are the most up-to-date (whereas someone like Yoshitsune was really fun when he debuted but feels really lackluster in modern musou).
I'll throw in Samurai Warriors as well.
Mitsuhide (pre-5 and both teen and adult in 5), 5 Ieyasu, Takatora, and Nobuyuki. Official 2D art of the 5 cast when, KT?
Man why did I knock Malzeno for being an Elder Dragon? This design has so much character and class despite using the standard ED skeleton. I really want to see what the Portable team can do with Western foklore-derived monster designs.
Obligatory haven't technically played a mainline DW game yet so this is largely based on gameplay + aesthetics + personality. Decided to make it one per Kingdom.
