Thought this handsome Ecuadorian beetle was a stag beetle at first glance until looking at the antennae. Turns out it's a long-horned beetle - something in parandrini I think... although I can't find any others with that pronotal notch/cleft - maybe a defect?
Another very tiny entity found underneath my rotting log this afternoon - a little pink piglet of a collembolan! First shot taken w/ Laowa 100mm 2:1, and the close-up is cropped from a 4.5x shot with the Mitakon Zhongyi 20mm. Interesting texture - too active to stack though :(
Questions for Phidippus audax: Why so common/successful? Why the high contrast black+white coloration? Why the metallic blue chelicerae? Does my camera flash bother you? Do you like the crane flies I feed you?
Laowa 25mm at 3x f/5.6 (working on a video review rn!)

I've posted photos of this Belizean Trechalea sp long-legged fishing spider before, but not with any scale - these spiders were massive!
