The castle home to the Reeds, Greywater Watch, has no knights, no master-at-arms, no maester and no ravens. The main contributing reason to this is that the castle moves from time to time with the swamp and can be hard to locate

The Five Forts are massive 1000 foot tall structures of fused black stones which separate the Empire of Yi-Ti and the Land of the Shrykes. Although their design and origin appears to be of Valyrian descent, the forts predate the Valyrian Freehold and even the Yi-Ti Empire

Renowned explorer, Lomas Longstrider wrote a book listing nine man-made creations he saw throughout his travels titled ’Wonders Made by Man.’ Among the nine he listed were:

Queen Rhaenys’ dragon, Meraxes, died from a scorpion’s bolt shot through her eye socket while besieging Hellholt. It is unknown whether Rhaenys fell to her death, was crushed by Meraxes, or was captured by the Dornishmen to be tortured in their dungeons

In the ’A Song of Ice and Fire’ universe, Manticores have a scorpion-like body with a human face. This closely resembles forms of the Sandking creatures from G.R.R.M.’s 1979 short story ’Sandkings’ and may be a nod to these classic beasts
