At Christmastime I like to travel
and am far from the children's jubilation
and go into the woods and snow alone
And somewhere in the woods for an hour,
I trace the scent of childhood
deep down into my mind
and I'm a boy again.

slowly turns to day, when the glaze and snowy drifts
gently melt away."

"How many lessons of faith and beauty we should lose, if there were no winter in our year!"
~Thomas Wentworth Higginson
These are words to live by in all hard times. Even the 'winter of our discontent' may teach us valuable lessons.

Just beautiful.
@aquaagnes @GrajaAgnieszka I came across Kevans' portraits a while ago. No 1 you recognise. No 2,3 & 4 are from her series "Boys". Hitler, Hussein, Stalin as infants. No hint there of the evil they came to perpetrate as adults. Maybe a search for answers to where & how evil starts?
"Tears are words that heart can't express."
A profoundly touching piece by Giuseppe Mentessi (1857-1931)

It is difficult even to choose the adjective
For this blank cold, this sadness without cause.
The great structure has become a minor house.
No turban walks across the lessened floors.
