In 2004, director John Woo acquired the rights to make a Metroid movie. However, when Nintendo was asked about the daily life of the characters, they didn't know how to reply, and didn't want anyone else to answer for them, so the project was abandoned.

Hideki Kamiya, the director of Bayonetta, has stated in an interview with Siliconera that he'd like to make a Bayonetta spin-off with Jeanne, Bayonetta's rival, as the main character, and described it as a "portable game you could play in quick sessions"
