Elio is an Italian and Greek version of the sun god: Helios. Selene means Moon Goddess.
Calem and Serena’s names represent the words calm and serene, respectively. Calem isn’t even an actual name, but Serena is.
Together, Rosa and Nate’s names are supposed to correspond to the word “Resonate”, which is a callback to the fact that the B2W2 games happened two years after BW.

Dunno why he is called Brendan, but his japanese name “Yuuki” means bravery. May’s Japanese name “Haruka” also means spring flower & far away ( actually matches with Norman to make a phrase). Could also refer to the Mayflower, which blooms in spring.
Red & Leaf: self-explanatory Lol. They’re both names after the FireRed and LeafGreen games.
