A good time for an 'August' picture & what could be more appropriate than WBG's 'August in Orkney' 1987, a reminder that this week the LAST CHANCE to see @PierArtsCentre, 'Inspirational Journeys', until Sat 20/8. Also on is Laura Drever's fabulous show 'Teebro'. Not to missed!!

Over a period of 20 years, #BarnsGraham created her series of small energy drawings of undulating and swirling lines. Here's an untitled one from towards the end of the series in 1995 (BGT19).

One of our favourite WBGs in #CentralScotland has to be @EdinCulture's Rocks, St Mary's, Scilly Isles. Painted in 1953, the work reflects the abstractions of landforms seen in her Glacier paintings of the same period.

CONGRATULATIONS. This year's winner of the new WBGT/SSA prize for a recent graduate is Siobhan McLaughlin (https://t.co/ZpBHdeMHvL) for her wonderful 'Untitled (Lochnagar III)'. On display at the SSA/VAS OPEN at the RSA in Edinburgh until 30 January 2020.

Some of the works on show at the @MuseumSheffield exhibition 'Wilhelmina Barns-Graham Sea, Rock, Earth and Ice.' Exhibition continues until March 2019.

Behind the Painting - 'Three Rock Forms.' 1951
#WilhelminaBarnsGraham extended her exploration of #3d form, initiated by her work with glaciers, to Cornish rocks. Three standing stones are simplified with sharp angles and faces, the scraped surfaces suggesting reflected light.
