Course, it's not like Jon is normal himself. Maybe they're more alike than they realize.
One thing my friends and I noticed looking through these edits is that they managed to make the comic feel more modern. I think that comes from the fact that back when the strip was created, humor mainly came from punchlines. Nowadays it's more about reactions or lack of reaction
Sometimes a punchline isn't needed to make a joke funny. A simple expression can be enough.
Keep in mind, in the strip Jon can't hear any of Garfield's thoughts. This is literally the strip from his perspective. Jon has got a very weird cat.
A while ago there was a Tumblr blog called "Shut Up Garfield" which took Garfield comic strips and edited out Garfield's thought bubbles. The blog has since been hacked but I managed to save the majority of the strips which I will post here in this thread. They're hilarious.
