@randomnesquick Penglai is a short that they outsourced to China by director Momo Wang:
I’m really hoping Momo Wang’s “Penglai”, the announcement of Moonlight (older skewing film division) and the Mario movie are true signs that Illumination wants to step up their game and not only push themselves with future projects but to reinvent how many people see them.
Man Kevin Michael Richardson, Khary Payton, AND Eric Bauza?
That’s more iconic voice actor talent than I was honestly expecting in this.
Really hope there’s more!
Looney Tunes Cartoons Halloween Special has three new fantastic shorts, one being the perfect continuation to Chuck Jones’s “Scaredy Cat”, and only further cements this as being the best Looney Tunes revival we’ve gotten.
And yet, The Day The Earth Blew Up’s fate is in the air.
There’s clearly an audience who will gladly watch it if it’s picked up and with a brand as renowned as Looney Tunes and how much people want to see more 2D animated films it’s not going to be difficult to find an audience for it.
You could have a 2D hit on par with these:
The Day The Earth Blew Up really looks like it’s everything I wanted out of a big Looney Tunes movie.
Fully animated, using the 40’s designs and takes on the characters, Porky and Daffy as the leads and actually letting the Looney Tunes be the focus in THEIR OWN FILM.
I love how someone posted a tweet, which they eventually said they had no source to back it up, about the Mario movie doing poorly in test screenings, getting a complete rework and is why Nintendo bought Dynamo only a day after images from a distinct Illumination project release.
Mono Wang has revealed that her upcoming short, “Penglai”, produced by Illumination Entertainment and animated in China, will be screening in AMC Century City.
She has revealed the first look at the short film and the synopsis of the short has been revealed on AMC.
