No. 3 is Beast Complex. Honourable mention to Beastars. I do want to see how Beastars ends, but it's lost so much momentum in the last few volumes that I'm more interested to see what Itagaki does with the characters in the same world, but out of the Beastars plot.
That's it for things that are entirely new to me. Next up: most anticipated series continuations.
No. 1 is obviously Kowloon, as that's my manga of the year for 2022.
No. 2 is Yokohama Shopping Trip - I want to spend more time sitting quietly with a coffee, drinking this in.
No. 4 is Drip Drip. I don't know how much I will enjoy this, but I really want to see Paru Itagaki's drawings of humans, and just where her imagination takes us!
No. 2 is Shadows House! I super enjoyed both seasons of the anime & got volumes 1 & 2 for Christmas, so looking forward to experiencing the story at a bit of a slower pace, with more depth. Art looks great too 👍
And 4 honourable mentions that were new to me this year: Robosapiens, High School Debut, My Brain Is Different, & Mars.
I find with blind drawings you can really get to the heart of sensitivity for the subject and line quality, but they're not accurate. So I'm playing with having control vs. loss of control to try and find somewhere in the middle where I can make a drawing that has some life to it
My third pick is Yamaguchi-kun Isn't So Bad. Girl has several run-ins with the school 'yakuza' scary-looking guy, but he might not actually be that scary? Shock XD
Number 2 is When We Shout for Love. I would never usually have tried this as it's about idol fans & I'm not really a big fan of anything in that way, so the subject doesn't resonate, but I really enjoyed chapter 1, so I'm up for giving it a volume!
I've chosen my 3 shojo manga volumes to buy! (would have got them on paper but they're all digital only, so no photos :( but there will be screenshots!)
OK number 1: Getting Closer to You
