This is a 'most likely I'll follow it' pick as I haven't read my copy of vol 1 yet, but seeing as I loved Dorohedoro, I think I'll enjoy following Dai Dark 💀🍝
Well...if we ever get any more volumes..😭 We're up to 8 but it's been well over a year since the last one came out? The comic's on Tapas tho so perhaps once that catches up to the volume releases I'll read some over there -hmm-
Bought a volume of this randomly in an 'I dunno I just need manga!' fit, & it turned out to be a keeper :) The characters have a real warmth to them that makes me happy to read 💛
Can't wait for more Cherry Magic, it feels like it's been forever waiting for vol 4! Probably due to ~gestures around~ everything, I'm really enjoying some light, self-indulgent manga with adorable crushes & feelings lately, & this mind-reading love story fits the bill perfectly
Finishing this year with the 19th volume, I'll be picking up Ooku til the end. It's going to be an epic read-through when I finally have all of them. Kind of wish I knew anything about actual Japanese history tho as there would be a lot to enjoy here on deeper levels I think.
So, ok I might have got no. 1 wrong because Beastars. Every single volume I find something unique to love in this series & it's my favorite comic artwork out there - the line quality! ~swoon~
Just for fun, here's a thread of the manga I'm following/collecting so far this year!
I'll start with Blue Period as it's my no. 1 right now so pretty obvious. Even tho it's based on exam competition (so far) & a relatively narrow view of art, it still inspires me to draw!
Had tons of fun in 2021 just drawing things from around the house. Let myself draw whatever I wanted & that turned out to be very mundane objects!
These are A6 but I've got an A4 sketchbook now, so I'll be able to fit, like, 3 whole objects per page! Way too excited about it 😁
Day 14 - Blue Flag, compete in 8 volumes & available on the Shonen Jump app. This was one of those gripping reads for me where my whole body will, like, lock into my focused reading position & lord help anyone who wants to ask me a question for the next several hours 😆
Day 13 (still behind!) - carrying on with the highlights of this year, I read the whole of Drops of God (44-odd volumes?). Wine is like a whole other world for rich people to play in, but it was fun to join them for a bit.
