At the Williamson Art Gallery we have a wide variety in our collection. "Something for everyone" you may say. Here we have Baroque Fantasy by Olaf Rosenvinge (1913–2004)
Olaf Rosenvinge was the son of poster and marine artist Odin Rosenvinge.

As part of the #mylocalmuseum campaign on the theme people in nature, here is a delightful picture called Unambitious Ways by William Shackleton (1872–1933). I wonder where they are travelling from and to?

This 1952 oil on board portrait is of 'Barbara Taylor' by George Wallace Jardine (1920-2002). This is an early portrait by Wallace using a student as a model. Born in Wallasey, he taught in the Graphics Department at the Liverpool School of Art.

"Bidston Mill Destroyed by Gale 12&13 Jan 1927" watercolour by Harold Hopps painted the day after the gale subsided on 14 Jan 1927, is another painting portraying the history of Bidston. The mill has been reconditioned many times since and the roof again refurbished in 2006.

As its Valentines Day we thought 'Portrait of a Lady in a Red Dress' would be a good choice. Painted in oil on canvas by William Charles Penn 1877-1968.

This portrait is of 'Dorothea Hamilton, the Artists Niece' by Philip Wilson Steer 1860- 1942. Oil on canvas 1893.

The Wreck of the 'Birkenhead' by Thomas Marie Madawaska Hemy (1852–1937) 'Women and children first' orders were first given on this occasion and became known as 'The Birkenhead Drill'.

"The Wreck of the Maria Lamb, New Brighton, Wirral 27 January 1894" oil on canvas by H Locke. On this day in 1894 the schooner Maria Lamb and six passengers were rescued by the first steam Life-Boat the "Duke of Northumberland" after running aground during a gale at New Brighton.
