DAVID was an early mech designed to deal with Kaiju threats. However during a catastrophic encounter it found itself incapacitated and rendered out of service. Luckily the pilot survived.

Unfortunately the termination of the of the projects was done hastily leading to improper handling of sensitive materials. One particularly heinous instance resulted in a synthetic beast horridly mutated by radiation.

Originally found as megaflora that had sprouted near a military base scientists noticed that it had begun to absorb various nearby objects,incorporating their traits into its own. It wasn't long before it began to absorb personnel .
