I'm currently working on refining this painting technique. It has some very strong upsides, but it's harder to get the proportions right. To figure out improve the process more, I recorded me painting this portrait today.

Here's my first experimental portrait commission. This one was made for @AkkadianFox. Doing commissions is more difficult than I expected, but I think this turned out well. (:

I didn't want to just become an Ophryon clone. That's why in the months following that, I started to do studies from photos as well. It was the same principle again. I wanted to know what's out there in the world that my paintings can't capture yet.

The next thing I did was studying those portraits and looking for what differentiated my paintings from them. It was pure trail and error. I felt like the change was massive already after just a few weeks of just doing that. And I didn't stop there.

2012 vs 2019 That's how far I got from not knowing how to paint a hyena with a few years of practice.

This is the last painting I wanted to retouch in preparation for Eurofurence. The changes are not as big as the last one, but I still like this version a lot more than the older. (:
