There’s a lot of action & violence, stylized dream sequences and dozens upon dozens of fantastic artworks (esp. background art).
April Movie #3: Tekkonkinkreet (Michael Aries)
Boy, this was a WILD ride. One of the most unique and lavish anime movies ever. Every scene, every shot, every background is craftsmanship on a very high level. Studio 4°C doesn’t disappoint.
April Movie #4: Baja’s Studio: The Sea Baja Saw (2020)
A continuation of the cute 2017 short. The delightful animation exudes joy from start to finish. It’s a great showcase of Kyōto Animation’s craftsmanship.
April Movie Challenge
I’m planning to watch 30 movies from my backlog in April, short and long, old and new.
Since I’m more flexible now, I’m confident it will go more smoothly this time.
I'll definitely be following these shows this spring:
- To Your Eternity
- Nomad: Megalo Box 2
- Tokyo Revengers
- Odd Taxi
I really didn’t want Megalo Box to have a 2nd season because there simply is no reason to continue after that ending. But the key visual for S2 looks pretty dope, not gonna lie.
@Dakazo @justinttwitball @IronsparkSyris The 8th movie literally has its own version of Yggdrasil (which is, apparently, deeply connected to Mew).
Pokémon Movie 6: Jirachi Wishmaker
After rewatching 3-5 this is the first "new" movie for me. I actually haven’t seen any Pokémon movie after that, only the remake of the first one.
Japan Sinks 2020 is mostly B movie trash. That’s disappointing enough, but the visuals are also so bland & the animation stilted that it’s hard to believe it’s a Science Saru / Yuasa show.
Especially considering that it was finished many months before its release.
