New item on my bucket list: Travel around Japan and visit all Pokéfuta (Pokémon manhole covers).
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō is slowly becoming one of my favorite manga. A big part of why it is so relaxing is because it mostly shows people doing nothing – just drinking coffee, relaxing in the sun, watching the scenery, chatting.
It’s the antithesis to our capitalist world.
In an interview, To Your Eternity sound director Takeshi Takadera said that the music was written in a way that every single piece can also be enjoyed standalone, an unusual approach for an anime score.
I’m currently reading the 1st spin-off book, so I was happy to find out there’s even a third one.
Spin-off 1: Short stories about the people Kiki met during the books
Spin-off 2: Stories from Kiki and Jiji’s early childhood
Most read writer: Yōshichi Shimada
His books are funny and heartwarming accounts of his own life and the people dearest to him.
I'm currently trying to marathon the 2021 shows in my list I haven't watched yet – just finished SSSS.Dynazenon and Sonny Boy. Impressions later.
Still left:
– Heike Story
– Wonder Egg
– Megalo Box 2
– Vivy
– Super Cub
– Star Wars Visions
Movies:
– Poupelle of Chimney Town.
- could identify more with the heroes in shōnen manga and adventure stories than the stereotypical girls in manga etc. at that time
It’s been four years since I’ve read my first book in Japanese – Kiki’s Delivery Service. It sure doesn’t feel that long. Yesterday I’ve finished my 40th book, 推し、燃ゆ (Idol, Burned). Time to look back for a bit!
