14. Laid-Back Camp Movie (2022)
Who are the people on the teaser visual? The girls after a timeskip? Their parents? In any case, a feature-length Yuru Camp movie sounds extremely promising and I can’t wait to see what kind of trip this will be.
12. Shishigari (Kiyotaka Oshiyama, TBA)
Not much known aside from a short pilot movie – but it kinda feels nostalgic and I really like the setting and art design. Please be good!
11. Child of Kaminari Month (Toshinari Shinoe, 2021)
I love the key visuals! I’m getting indie vibes from the production and adore these kinds of mysterious rural Shintō-inspired stories.
9. Worlds Bubble Up Like Soda Pop (Kyōhei Ishiguro, Jul 2021)
Looked like an average SoL movie at first, but the color design and feel-good atmosphere in the trailer really made me excited to see this. Will be on Netflix later this month.
5. Inu-ō (Masaaki Yuasa, 2021?)
Not much is known so far except that it’s the story about a 14th century Japanese performer, it’s Yuasa and the published visuals look very interesting, so I have high expectations!
4. Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko (Ayumu Watanabe, June 2021)
Cozy-looking slice-of-life movie by Ayumu Watanabe / Studio 4°C that looks just beautiful. I’m looking forward to a heartwarming visual delight.
3. Belle (Mamoru Hosoda, Jul 2021)
Hosoda’s newest feature, combining his familiar "virtual world" settings with a Disneyesque "beauty and the beast" type of story. Hosoda’s movie are consistently great and this one will be no exception.
I need sequels for:
Space Brothers
Silver Spoon
Vinland Saga
March Comes In Like a Lion
Pretty please? 。◕‿◕。
