it was always meant to be a nickname of a name he's since forgotten. einarr probably knows what it was. unless he forgot too. it has only been two centuries, so :-)

MORTEN: i hit the name randomizer in CAS once (1 time), got this, and i was like holy shit that's literally a vampire pun and it fits him so well. and so i kept it.
their surname was made up tbh. it kiiinda contains the norwegian word for dying. (DØle)

i showed my glowans, still unnamed, to my finnish cousin, and she basically pointed at em, naming them after the main colors they had.
"sini", she called him. it's technically a girl name, but i extended it to the glowan name format of five letters and kept it.
