For those who hadn't watched or rewatched #GiantRobo during the intervening 2.5-plus years, this recap would have been incredibly helpful. It was smart to include it.

While the Magnificent Ten are clearly coded as villains, they’re abstracted enough to allow me to root for them (at this moment). Genya is such a scumbag that I want to see him put down.

Spoken like a true middle manager—full of empty rhetoric.

Kawarazaki stresses Genya’s relatively young age, which falls in line with the thematic pattern of generational tension that #GiantRobo continually stresses. However, unlike Daisaku, Genya comes across as naïvely willful and dangerous.

These are all good points, but I wish Ginrei didn’t have to function as Daisaku’s spokesperson. This would be an excellent time for her to grapple her own issues. But she continually redirects the attention back to Daisaku, much to the detriment of her own characterization.
