This month our school wide SJS focuses on justice. I just finished reading a graphic novel by @GeorgeTakei, @JustinEisinger & Steven Scott which would pair great with @cynthia_grady's book "Write to Me" for our upper grades. @twinoakscoyotes

Reads from last week. On Wednesday read Julia Alvarez's book about a Dominica Republic fable. Thursday, Matt De La Peña's book inspired by the movie Coco. Friday, Benjamin Alire Sáenz's book about a little dog named Sofie and the love of her owners. #HispanicHeritageMonth

Morning reads about following your dreams. One shared her love & passion for the beauty of her culture in dance. The other shared his artistic talent & beauty in his photographs. Both followed their childhood dreams and inspired the world.

Talking about our awesome librarian @toeslibrary brought a memory for one of my girls. She's a middle schooler now but she always remembers Mrs. Gayden reading One by @KathrynOtoshi. A popular book to open discussions about bullying. My daughter chooses to reread it every year.

Enjoyed both these books with my girls. One is about the beautiful relationship between a daughter & her handicapped father. The second about a granddaughter & grandfather's relationship. Thank you Nari Hong and Sylvia Liu for your stories.
