1984: Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind

Honestly I think this is the best Ghibli film. Also my first watch was from a worn Chinese VHS copy and Nausicaa's pants looked like the same color as her skin. VERY CONFUSING.

1988: My Neighbor Totoro

I watched maybe half of this and it was like a fever dream while subtitled in Chinese.

Fun story: The Ghibli Museum played a mini Totoro movie and I went "OH FUCK" while surrounded by small JP children when a big Cat suddenly flew in. Sorry.

1989: Ranma 1/2

I actually started with the OVA VHS tapes from Blockbuster back in the day. I used to have mom translate the manga from Chinese. The moment she found out there were English versions, she bought them so I could read them on my own. 😂

Wow this show seems pretty tame in a lot of places these days but back then it was pretty shocking and wild lol. That last episode though that bumped up the rating to M though uhhhh
