@Staatsarchiv not everyone knows that the character Ernani wore a special feathered hat which, during the Italian Risorgimento, was forbidden by the Austrian authorities, as a symbol of freedom. The hat with the feath, in 1872 was an inspiration to that of the Italian Alpine troops.

sketches of the Italian artist Edgardo Rossaro (1st is his self-portrait): it belonged to Alpine Volunteers, Alpine soldiers with special characteristics. In addition to the drawings, Rossaro left a war diary, published with title "My Merry War".
