I noticed from the 3rd Dinosaur Revolution episode a handful of generic semi-aquatic crocs. True crocodylians appeared in the Cenomanian, so I wanted to see how many were around before/during/after to see if they were lazily added in the show.
They were not. So many of them...
I've been increasingly realizing...Jazz is actually really cool. There's one aspect of him I really respect.
@StievenVdP Propalaeotherium 1: “It’s the Gastornis being weird again.”
Prop 2: “Pretending to be a predator by sneaking up on us?”
Prop 1: “Yeah.”
Prop 2: “Just look away and pretend you don’t notice him. He’ll either get bored or a real predator will scare him away.”
Andrewsarchus' craniodental morphology is indeed very similar to that of entelodonts. Considering that modern research finds Andrewsarchus to actually be sister to the entelodonts (and not a mesonychid, like originally thought), this actually makes a lot of sense.
It kind of made me cringe inside. NOT because it was bad on the film's part (quite the opposite!)...but because it hit home. It was exactly how I and the kids I grew up with would have acted back in the day, and I only realized it now rewatching it as an adult.
I may not be super duper into DC Comics (I do have some interest in it, but I'm not a superfan), but had this come to pass I woulda read the shit out of it.
I haven’t gotten the chance to sit down and read this paper yet, but this is such a weird tooth shape. It also goes to show how diverse omnivore dentition is.
