@twichtendahl @goberthicks @Em_TeeGee I've always loved how the different art associated with this card is just reframing the scene with that person (summoner?) and Marit Lage.

@masoneclark My late-WAR Standard list immediately before rotation was a GW tokens deck I built myself - at the time I felt there was a ton of spot removal (imagine!) and by playing all 1 and 2 drops which weren't cleanly removed I'd have an edge.

@GavinVerhey There's other cool things that feel R/W but are resource intensive for little or risky battlefield development. Dash, equipment/auras, level up, etc. Zirda stuff.
BUT - RW has no card selection or ramp. It's hard to feel safe playing these because you fall behind tempo so easily

@GavinVerhey I think my personal dream archetype for RW would be a form of tap-out "control"! The pairing has incredible power to destroy ANY permanents (hate that this is GB now and not Mardu) and deal direct damage - I would love to see apocalyptic destruction combined with gradual damage.

@GavinVerhey I think another RW thing that isn't built into as many cards as I'd expect is "keyword tribal". Creatures loaded up with first strike, double strike, vigilance, haste and menace make me feel like I have a trained, professional army! Path of Mettle is awesome in many ways.

@MythicMarkets I'm not as much a fan of the card, but I love this art! Mark Tedin was really leading the pack in this set.

@rpancoast_art @magicartshow @NRockwellMuseum There's a lot of Magic art that takes my breath away! I wonder whether for certain pieces, a potential exhibition could somehow replicate the effect of foiling? The first 3 artworks I've linked here are among my favourite but in part because they work incredibly as foils!
