Day 14: I have moved into four fold symmetry. I found this design weirdly pleasing. It’s not like some of my other pieces. I have hidden a few construction lines for neatness sake.

I think this one makes a good picture...

Day 13: Unlucky for some. But not this lovely purple pattern. I think this is the first design is that has floating parts. I see a white star overlaying a purple star and those kites are the parts of the purple star that you can see.

Day 11: More parallel lines in this one. I think it looks a little weird, compared to the rosette proportions in Islamic designs these look strangely elongated. I do like the overlapping 3 pointed stars though. Something for another day.

Day 10: A piece in pink. This design is very similar to the blue study from yesterday. However six of the kites have become rhombuses. Why is that?

Day 9: I’m a little later than usual today, it was a busy day.
Here is a study in blue. I love the two different kites and I think the negative space chevron shapes really pop. I wonder how many more of these studies I can create?

Day 8: A green design today. I was going to move onto 8 fold symmetry this week but I am not quite over the 12 fold patterns. I found these delightful kites and darts. Again, some neat negative shapes!!

Day 5: I wanted to explore all the regular stars you can you could make with 12 points. Which ones have I missed?
I also spotted the kites. I’ve seen many in my designs so far, I wonder which ones are similar and which are different?

For my geometry community action I am sharing this ‘Which One Doesn’t Belong?’ compilation. It shows my designs from the first four days.

Day 4: I love the repeating nature of this design. There are really just two types of star here but when they overlap you can see the rings of squares and kites. How do you see the pattern?
