Remember when Takashi Tezuka said something about experimenting with an "overhead" perspective in SMB3? I think this is what he was talking about, a view as seen on Alex Kidd The Lost Stars. I feel like Mario's pose as he looks up on the title screen retains a bit of that idea.
Editing some colors in the #NES Hook game just for funs. Originals on the left. I hadn't finished this game in almost 30 years. The game is not too bad but it could use a few improvements.

Got it to work, just need to make it practical to use in the code.
Got to merge the two now... Writing the CHR switch at NMI is setting the HUD CHR correctly, but setting the CHR switch at the end of the HUD is not setting the BG CHR back in. Dunno why yet.

Can't easily add the police car. Maybe by switching the fixed 2K bank just before reaching it and using unused tiles on it to draw the car. Kinda too complicated right now, maybe later. The tree can be made of sprites, I think #nes #nesdev #pixelart #simpsons #screenshotsaturday
