I feel it when a piece just flows and sometimes, no matter what I do, not much works. If I am stuck on a painting, I just stop. I post them no matter what I think of them. In my art process, I just need to move on and not dwell on one small section.

Although I look forward to the two summer months off from teaching, I waste a lot of time. I need structure and time limits to be most productive with my paintings. Living life fully feeds the art.

I am finally getting the translucent layers that I was looking for in my work. That only took a zillion drawings and lots of experiments with various supplies. Happy creative Saturday 👋

I think Otto Dix, with his crazy portraits (more out there than these) definitely had an influence on how I approach faces. I love how he paints personality over a hyper realistic version of a person. Google him. He was so ahead of his time.
