Another quote for a writer. And by the way, just to let you know, I have a vivid imagination.
“Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination.” – Oscar Wilde
If you're a writer, struggling or successful, this is how you sometimes feel about editors.
"From the moment I picked up your book until I put it down, I was convulsed with laughter. Some day I intend reading it."
― Groucho Marx
Dammit. I have three novels featuring a set of homicide cops who solve the cases no one else in the department want. With a fourth halfway finished. Do republish them myself? Do I try to entice my publishers to take them on? Do I punt and just lay them aside? I can't decide!!
I am, again, on that kick of quoting writers on their thoughts about writing. Here's another little jewel I like. Especially for a mystery writer.
"A writer is someone who can make a riddle out of an answer." ~Karl Kraus
From 'Murderous Passions'
Murder is such an up-close and personal venue.
Especially if the weapon of choice is a garrote made with piano wire. The C-string. With wood handles carved with a craftsman’s precision to fit the end of the wires for a firm, deadly grip.
Thinking of resurrecting of an old series of mine. Two homicide cops. Turner Hahn and Frank Morales. One an old movie idol lookalike. The other a mad scientist's idea of a modern day Neanderthal. Homicide detectives who are assigned the cases no one else want to touch.
I'm trying to get a couple of publishers interesting in re-issuing the Turner Hahn.\Frank Morales novels. The first one, called Murderous Passions, has a potential new cover. What do you think?
An writing experiment from three years past. To mimic the style of Homer;
'A witch she was, daughter of the night. Strong and true standing before me in silks of black. Her eyes of brown filled with gold; mysteries deep and cunning of stories foretold."
To all of you out there who celebrate Thanksgiving. Be thankful for everything and everyone in your life. They are precious.
This going to be the front cover for the re-release of Roland of the High Crags: Evil Arises. I've expanded the original fantasy novel considerably. Making it more compelling, I believe.
