Here are some of my favorite drawings/pages that I did in 2021!
@kierongillen I’m late to this, but I’d love the opportunity to work with you!
Here are some recent pages—more at:

Cheers!
If you like music and you like comics then you should probably preorder (or have your LCS order) my next graphic novel ENTER THE BLUE.
It’s due out late January, published by @Z2comics and @bluenoterecords.
This book turned out so damn good. You’ll see.

Finally, for one last unifying layer of texture, I overlaid the whole thing with this color-adjusted watercolor wash, set to "overlay" at 75% opacity. I'm really happy with how this one turned out and I hope this thread gives you some ideas for your own work!
I wanted the music notation to glow, so there are several layers, each set to lighten, with a gradually lighter fill from dark blue through 100% cyan all the way to white--and then each layer is gaussian blurred less-and-less as it gets lighter. The white layer isn't blurred.
I then added some splatters of varying opacity levels with greater density towards the bell of her instrument as well as a layer that lightens the lineart around her bell.
This book has so much texture, especially when music is happening. I made a bunch of abstract boards with random drybrush techniques and chaotic stuff to add to art and then inverted and adjusted the colors in PS. This layer is set to "lighten" with 48% opacity.
Next step: flats and then colors. I flatted this page myself, and for colors I basically focused just on where the blue light hits her and her trumpet--with a little bit of adjusting the value of her skin to make that blue light really pop.
Scan and cleanup. Using red or blue ink for the wash gives me an advantage here, allowing me to separate the lineart and the inkwash into different layers, giving me more control over these separate elements. If I used only black ink, it'd be more difficult to adjust all around.
