Ultimately Annihilation created an iconography and tone for marvel cosmic that birthed a renaissance, and while some of these character will seem drastically different from what you know them as today, this is the starting point that began the arcs we al know and love.

Annihilation, a frankly minor FF villain, served as the perfect foil to the new rich heroic cast. As an unstoppable force that couldn’t be reasoned with, Annihilation pushed marvel cosmic and these characters to their breaking point. (And I mean just look at him)

In 2006 Marvel cosmic had a shot of adrenaline that rocketed them back into popularity with the event Annihilation. Built around the conceit that a devastating wave swept across the universe, long forgotten characters like Drax, Peter Quill, and Gamora were forced to save the day
