If you connect with the X-men’s message of found family, “the mutant metaphor” of oppression, but feel like the books are too inaccessible due to continuity, Saga is a perfect substitute. Built around an ever growing found family of societal rejects this book touches on it all

If you are sick of constant evil Superman plots or just want a fresh look at the Superman archetype look no further than Superman’s metaphorical brother (fellow son of doc savage) Tom Strong! A character with a fortress of solitude, a penchant for helping people, and all the rest

If you love Batman comics but feel burnt out with the caped crusader himself, check out the crime comics of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips! As varied as the caped crusader’s stories, there is at least one book from this pair that will scratch that itch. My favorite is Reckless!

If you want more Chris Samnee ninja fighting action look no further than Fire Power. While the tone won’t be quite as dour as some Daredevil comics, the stakes and action are right in point, with great supporting characters mirroring many of Frank Miller’s creations

If you feel frustrated about Spider-man in ability to grow up and have lasting change, but love the character, you absolutely need to check out invincible! This comic has progress, big hero moments and awesome relationships

Annihilation, a frankly minor FF villain, served as the perfect foil to the new rich heroic cast. As an unstoppable force that couldn’t be reasoned with, Annihilation pushed marvel cosmic and these characters to their breaking point. (And I mean just look at him)

In 2006 Marvel cosmic had a shot of adrenaline that rocketed them back into popularity with the event Annihilation. Built around the conceit that a devastating wave swept across the universe, long forgotten characters like Drax, Peter Quill, and Gamora were forced to save the day
