I started with a pencil drawing and blocked in colour with the airbrush and then used a paint brush for the details. I went back over parts of the painting with the airbrush again to darken the shadows. I had fun but definitely need a bit more practice with the airbrush.

Wow. What a year! Artistically, 2021 turned out to be the year I focused on single illustrations and commissions instead of comics. It was brilliant to be able to return to painting. Here’s aiming for bigger and better in 2022!

Playing around with Hellboy analogues just for fun. Circled a concept but couldn’t quite make it come together. Also, experimenting with blending and layering tones of grey Copics.
Might have another run at it some other time.

A little Patreon reward I whipped up. This one is of a character from a new sci-fi short story I’ve been working on written by the fantastic . (More about that later.) This piece was done using pigment markers, watercolour and ink.
