In kijo are female demons. They appear as hideously ugly woman often with sharp horns, long claws, red eyes, wild hair & dressed in rags. These are women who were transformed into monsters due to jealousy, crimes or hatred.

Chione was the goddess of snow in Greek mythology. She was a daughter of Boreas, god of the wintry north wind. She was also the consort of Poseidon, god of the sea, & mother of Eumolpus who she threw into the sea (it's ok, Poseidon rescued him)

It is said that Xiwangmu is accompanied by a collection of supernatural creatures in her garden in the mythical Kunlun mountains. Two of special note are the magical 9-tailed fox & a 3-legged crow. The garden is where she grows her peaches of immortality.

Xiwangmu is also associated with the moon & is often shown in art alongside the moon rabbit pounding the elixir of immortality in a mortar & pestle, & also a dancing frog or toad, which alludes to the myth of Chang-e, the moon goddess.

Oiwa is a Japanese ghost, the vengeful spirit of a young woman betrayed by her husband. He disfigured her face in an attempt to get rid of her so he could marry a younger woman. She cursed the pair on her death & returned to haunt all who had betrayed her.
