Month 4 is when I started taking an online portrait drawing class by @gracezhuart .
The progress over the course of one month is pretty evident. Having an artist go over my pieces and highlighting mistakes did a lot to help me recognize bad habits and be more cognizant of them.
Most of my favorite pieces of this period are paint overs. I still am working on structure and form, and as always, heavier reference helps a lot, especially in the learning stage.
Month 3 (December to Jan 14 if you’re losing track) looks pretty slow. Doing more painted pieces meant slower output than sketches.
Holidays and conventions also likely contributed to this.
I think one of the biggest helps was I did a lot of studies this month. I’ve gotten lax in this department and need to do more of these since they’re incredibly helpful in improving skill sets.
Month 2
A big focus on learning to paint digitally. I also did a lot more full “scenes” during this month, I think more so than any other month so far.
I also started practicing with digital art. First with a tiny tablet I had lying around, then eventually I bought a Wacom Intuos and started using Clip Studio, which is still my main medium.
A lot of times I would sketch in pencil and color digitally.
It felt wrong going to bed without drawing something, so did a quick Jackal sketch.

@Daemonia94 Always neat to see how a little change can make a big difference. Feels way more intense with the white.
