Painting progress. Trying doing a shadow layer first, and now I’m going back and painting in more by hand, which hopefully will cut back on the overly rendered look

Still not super happy with it but I like it more than my original pass (pictured below). Still don’t think I did a good job capturing the fear and determination in the eyes, but I’ll call this for now.

@JDonaldson_art @andceteras Not sure if this exactly fits, but I always loved @sotonami ’s work for managing to take the clean manga look and melding it with a much more chaotic, abstract painting style.
