Our skulls contain many of the same bones as extinct dinosaurs. See human and Spinosaurus below for comparison. One major difference is that mammal skulls have a much greater degree of fusion than dinos - which is why dinosaur skulls are often found disarticulated.

#Riabininohadros was a herbivore native to #Ukraine during the late-Cretaceous. This large ornithopod dinosaur is known only from hind limb elements uncovered in the early 20th century. As such, very little is known about this animal.

#Scolosaurus was an armored dinosaur native to #Canada and the Northwest #USA roughly 76 million years ago. Reaching roughly 6 meters long, this club-tailed ankylosaur ate low-lying vegetation like ferns and horsetails.

Did you know that #Nasutoceratops was roughly the same weight as a large dairy cow? At just over a tonne, Nasutoceratops was one of the smaller ceratopsids. However, #JurassicWorld shows it significantly larger - about 2x its actual size

#Hoplitosaurus is a 130 million year old polocanthine dinosaur from North America named after 2500 year old warriors. Known for their large shields, #Hoplites were the backbone of ancient #Greek armies during the classical era. Both relied on their armour for survival in battle.
The clade "Parankylosauria" contains the small Southern Hemisphere ankylosaurians #Stegouros, #Antarctopelta, & #Kunbarrasaurus. These armored herbivores are known from a few specimens combined, but hint at an entire lineage of undiscovered thyreophorans.

An armored dinosaur from Queensland, #Minmi lived ~130mya during the early Cretaceous. It and its other armored counterparts from #Australia and Antarctica may form their own family, but for now they are all considered "basal" ankylosaurids. #paleontology
In all the #PrehistoricPlanet excitement, a new Azhdarchid pterosaur from South America slipped through the cracks! Meet the 86 million year old "Dragon of Death" - #Thanatosdrakon! #pterosaurs #paleontology

An early Jurassic sauropodomorph, #Massospondylus was native to Southern Africa ~ 190 million years ago. It was one of the first dinosaurs described (1850s) and is the namesake of an entire family of mid-sized, bipedal "pro-sauropod" dinosaurs.

Feathered tyrannosaurs? Some #tyranosauroids (like Dilong & Yutyrannus) have been discovered with fossilized feathers. But, skin impressions from large, more advanced tyrants only reveal scales. Aside from sample size, 1 theory for why is "gigantothermy".
