One day Guru Nanak was weighing provisions and was counting each weighing as 'one, two, three... twelve, thirteen'. When he reached the thirteen (13)- 'Tera' (in Punjabi language Tera means 13, and Tera also means 'yours', that is 'I am Yours, O Lord'), he went in meditation.
ਕਲਿਜੁਗ ਬਾਬੇ ਤਾਰਿਆ ਸਤਿਨਾਮੁ ਪੜੵਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ॥
Baba Nanak rescued this dark age (Kaliyug) and recited "Satnam Mantra" for one and all.
ਕਲਿ ਤਾਰਣ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਇਆ ॥
Guru Nanak came to redeem the Kalyug.

Today, ੧੪ ਕੱਤਕ, is the Jyoti Jyot Diwas of Guru Har Rai Ji. He merged back into the Lord in ੧੬੬੧ after appointing his 5 year old son, Guru Harkrishan as next Guru. Guru Har Rai was the grandson of Guru HarGobind Ji.
ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਕੈਸਾ ਪਾਵੈ ~ When You stand over our heads, O Lord and Master, how can we suffer in pain?

Due to purity of the Guru's message & his enormous popularity, even Muslim pir's also became followers of Guru Arjan, & even Hindu saints, yogis, sidhas became Sikhs &adherents of the Guru; for first time the new Sikh religion, had became the prominent popular religion of Punjab.
The youngest son of Guru Ram Das Ji, Guru Arjun Dev compiled and collated the Hymns of previous Sikh Gurus and other Bhagats as the foundation of Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
In his early years, Guru Teg Bahadur learned Gurmukhi, Hindi, Sanskrit and Indian religious philosophy from Bhai Gurdas, and archery and horsemanship from Baba Budha while his father Guru Hargobind Ji, Master of Miri and Piri taught him swordsmanship.
Today, ੪ ਵੈਸਾਖ, is the Jyoti Jyot Diwas of Guru Angad Dev Ji. He merged back into the Lord in ੧੫੫੨, nominating Guru Amar Das as the third Guru.
Today, ੧ ਵੈਸਾਖ, is the Gurta Gaddi Diwas of Guru Amardas Ji. Following the footsteps of Guru Angad Dev Ji, he was the third sikh Guru to be seated at the throne of Guru Nanak in ੧੫੫੨.
