#DeGrazia was fascinated by the beauty and lore of the #SuperstitionMountains, where he made many expeditions to the backcountry prospecting for gold. The grizzled prospector heading into the mountains with his trusty burro was a symbol of hope and independence for DeGrazia.
#DeGrazia often said he dreamt his artwork before he created it. It was his habit to retire early and rise at 1 or 2am to work in the solitude of the late night hours. In many cases, DeGrazia noted time of night next to his signature, lending these small works large significance.

In 1936, DeGrazia moved to Bisbee where he managed his father-in-law's theatre. Although he was making a living, he was not happy with this work. Any money he saved went towards art supplies. Any extra time he had went to his art. He was searching, trying to find his own style.
The annual showing of DeGrazia's "The Way of the Cross” is currently on display through September 1st, 2020. #TedDeGrazia #DeGrazia #Ettore #Ted #Artist #GalleryInTheSunMuseum #Tucson #AZ #SantaCatalinas #Desert #OilPaintings #StationsOfTheCross #WayOfTheCross #AnnualExhibition
