I'm Nathan, and I'm a freelance illustrator and part-time teacher working outside of Detroit. I've been drawing nearly every day since I was a kid.

My style veers toward old-school sensibilities, but my influences are all over the place.

The 'mage' that Severian duels with in Sword of the Lictor. Never really had a concrete picture for these guys in my head, had to reread the associated chapters to remember their appearance.

Some quick thoughts on character design from when I was considering teaching the subject. Would still love to at some point if possible.

Not necessarily a tutorial, but things I try to keep in mind. Everyone has a different method, usually dictated by career choice.
