Today feels like the perfect day to post the final picture in the Universal Monsters set - Bride of Frankenstein. Of all the Universal Horror films, this one was my favorite.

I finished up the Wolfman! A lot of permutations of the concept have made his face more lupine in subsequent years, but there's something fun about the original design which transformed Lon Chaney Jr.'s face into something more akin to the initial stages of transformation.

Continuing the set with Dracula! Bela Lugosi brought his charm to the character in the 1931 film. If you ever need more reasons to love Lugosi, fire up Tim Burton's Ed Wood. It's a blast, and a fun insight into Lugosi later in life.

Aw yeah it's the Mummy. This movie was interesting, because it contains approximately 1% Mummy for the runtime. I had a lot of fun weathering his rags and distressing everything in general. Karloff's face is a blast to draw, and it was fun to push this likeness #universalmonsters

rolled from the Frankenstein piece into a Creature from the Black Lagoon image. Studying his design, the costume texture in the old Universal Monster films was so cool, and I really gravitated towards making this guy extra sea weed-y.

New piece! I initially started with a brown bronze palette and it ended up morphing into this interesting blue/purple palette that reminds me of of some of the more muted hues some of my favorite European illustrators use.

Here's how the piece I started last weekend's stream turned out. I've been learning to create solely in Photoshop and testing out new brushes and techniques, and while doing that I'm working on some soft character design for a potential next project.

Total drawing time was six and a half hours or so.
