Travelling through shoujo manga wonderland, the non-mainstream fringes & josei manga/seinen manga territories. Eyes always open to everything in its periphery.
Here's the cover for the Dec issue of Cocohana celebrating the start of Takanashi Mitsuba's new series Otome Tsubaki wa Warawanai 💐 Tsubaki works at a stationery store. Due to certain events she never smiles/laughs. When a man saves her from trouble, her life starts to change...
Hibi Chouchou was the perfect Margaret mainstream romance shoujo manga. Shortcake Cake seemed more like a Hakusensha series (Hana to Yume?) in the beginning. So it’s not surprising Morishita suu will now be releasing new material on a shounen manga platform like Gangan Online…
Shoujo manga artist duo Morishita suu's new series premieres on Gangan Online (Square Enix) on Nov 12. Catchily titled "Hoshokukei Heroine ni Ato Ichinen Inai ni Taberaremasu" this will be a slice of life comedy about a 'predatory' (alien?) girl & a senior high school student.
There's probably no better season to read this series than NOW. And the best thing is, Conami Shōko’s 3-volume school horror comedy Zombie Cherry (its international title) has been published in English by Akita (digital only), in French by Akata and in Spanish by Fandogamia 💀
In Conami Shōko’s hilarious horror shoujo manga Shikabane★Cherry, Miu finds out her crush shares her love of the occult so they start to pursue their hobby together. That should make her heart beat faster... Except it doesn’t - a phial of Cherry Soup turned Miu into a zombie 😱
Komori Mikko is getting Margaret readers into the mood for Halloween with her romance series Boku ni Hana no Melancholy. Hana and a vampire version of Yuzuru are on the magazine cover while in the color artwork for the latest chapter Hana is serving 'bloody' Halloween cake 🎃🧛♂️💀
Andō Yuki & her Machida-kun: 3rd place in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2016 ♀️ ranking, best newcomer at the Japan Media Arts Festival (manga category) & Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize - or simply the refreshing breeze that blew through shoujo manga magazine Betsuma from 2015 to 2018.
Is closure overrated? I developed this strange habit of not finishing a series (TV, manga...). Maybe so it can stay in my head a bit longer? Took me 5 months to read the final volume of Andō Yuki’s Machida-kun no Sekai. And now that it’s over, I'm already considering a reread💧
So happy that Masuda Riho is set to make her comeback with a new one-shot for the Betsuma furoku short story collection next month!! She has 2 one-shot collections (2014, 2015) + a 1-vol. work (2017) out so far. Can't wait for more from this super talented shoujo manga artist🌱🌸
After the positive reactions to the 1st part of the Kimi ni Todoke spin-off (now who would've thought XD), Unmei no Hito is back in the latest issue of Betsuma. Can Sawako help Kurumi and Akahoshi find happiness??
Looks like there's a new KimiTodo comic volume on the horizon...
