Some the color design choices feel straight out of Fujimoto's manga with an extra flair added for craziness (I approve). The 11 animated EDs might be the best creative decision the project has made thus far.
Comedy (another blank space issue created by "localization" aka butchering covers)
Some decisions they make are straight up hilarious because they remove shit for no reason other than "localization" (are some tiny Japanese letters really that much of a problem? seriously?). You're just removing shit for the hell of it now.
The ONLY reason why I haven't bought physical volumes of Chainsaw Man is because the English release covers are fucking atrocious. The logo ignores Fujimotos intent entirely and in returns creates a bunch of problems not present in the original like too much blank/open space.
Viz are a bunch of incompetent hacks when it comes to covers, and since they're the biggest publisher and no one creates enough fuss they keep getting away with it. They've butchered countless series by completely removing the intent of the Japanese volumes. https://t.co/5Dx1p16ied
How deep of an understanding of Chainsaw Man do you have to have to craft an opening that doesn't take itself seriously in order to pay respect to Fujimoto's love of films, the manga's absurd humor, and it's pin-point accurate character quirks. Shingo Yamashita is a genius.
