I have to say, I think Spider-Man has a thing for prison brawls. I especially appreciate his tendency to use some poor bastard to hit everyone else. I mean, improvised weapons are a thing in prison, aren't they?
A terminally ill Vulture is still a cruel, spiteful one. And he twists whatever sympathy he extracts from both Spider-Man and the reader. The moment when Spider-Man mulls over that sympathy and decides "Nope" (PP:SSM #188)
So much of Spider-Man's convo here is normally one he'd have internally. Being openly frustrated. He tells bystanders that he's ready to quit when he usually just tells himself. It's uncertain if they understood, but their praise means more here than if he said nothing at all
Thinking about this scene in context with how these two are pulled apart over Spider-Man history. And whether they realize it or not, a piece of them is always waiting for the other as they deal with their own individual struggles, knowing they'll be together again (ASM #502)
What makes this funnier to me is that the universe relies on this man to defuse bombs or doomsday devices. Though that's about breaking stuff, not making it work (PP:TSSM #48)
A lot is being asked of Spider-Man in this scene without his input or agreement. But there's an understanding of him. This measure of faith in him as a person. To push past pain and injury to be the hero (FNSM #3)
Amused that it's not the fact that Spider-Man is on two teams and holds a teaching license that qualifies him as a substitute teacher here, but his reputation as a cautionary tale in the superhero community (ASM #661)
The thing about Peter profiting off of taking Spider-Man pictures is that he also gets to choose who he sells his photos to, even if it's always to a paper that has a negative spin. When he takes photos of others, esp in private spaces, they don't get that luxury (ASM #560)
I going to say this is a rare time where Spider-Man posed for a photo-for-profit and he wasn't getting a cut. Peter needs to practice some Jedi mind tricks. (ASM, V2, #54)
