There are time when I wonder if Peter remembers how to "secret identity" (ASM Annual #20)
I love this scene for how it mixes the ordinariness of Peter Parker with extra-ordinariness of Spider-Man. Then ties both together as he grapples with the scope of his duty, compelling him to act on even the smallest, most personal pleas (WoSM, #33)
Sometimes a spider-powered guy just can't be naked in his own home.
Thinking about how we see an event as an iconic moment of triumph. A moment that sums up Spider-Man. But for the character, it’s a moment of dread. Something he wishes that he didn’t have to relive even though he was victorious (ASM #500)
Thinking again about how these two can't fly by themselves. Also hoping that Peter's flight attendant and MJ's fellow passenger find each other one day.
The rejection of fate and, in a way, idealism, whether it's scientific or occult in origin. Purity isn't natural. Only the struggle to survive is. And that's part of what makes Spider-Man relatable. We're all trying to survive and learn. None of us are pure. (ASM, V2, #35)
There's so much to love about this scene. Peter's Queens accent when he's mad. Addressing that love isn't enough in a relationship and trusting the audience with that. And at the end, I don't think Peter has ever been so hopelessly outnumbered, costume or not (ASM, V2 #44)
I've always loved The Spot. He's kind of goofy and ridiculous. So easy to make fun of. But when he's serious, he can be quite formidable. My nose hurts just looking at this. I'm here for his shocked reaction watching Spider-Man hopping around and "son of an Osborn!" (ASM #589)
I was first exposed to Mike Deodato Jr's art during his ASM run with JMS, and I've been 'amazed' ever since. There's something about his style that feels like a love letter to the aesthetics of the 90s and it's only gotten better with time. You can find more @mikedeodato
A favorite Spider-Man vs. Kingpin confrontation, just for the twist at the end. I hope Peter circled back for a photo. Just for posterity. (Amazing Spider-Man #277)
