It’s nothing that hasn’t been said, but in a series that is structured on irreverence, violence, and disingenuousness from the characters, MOUSE IN MANHATTAN is a great breach of formula and enigmatic in its sincerity. One of a kind and works to its advantage through its novelty
#ToonJune2022 Day 30 - That's All, Folks!
Redraw of a doodle from 2019--how does he get in there? How long does he STAY in there? How does he breathe? CAN he breathe? How many drums does he go through in a day? WILL IT EVER END!?
(Thanks for another great Toon June!)
ANYWAY. I really hate engaging in discourse because all of this isn't anything that hasn't already been said. I'll leave you with these drawings from a fledgling Me, as well as a startlingly prophetic entry from my Do It Yourself Diary of a Wimpy Kid book at around age 9-10
#ToonJune2022 Day 7 - Favorite Cartoon Character
Cheated and decided to get two birds with one stone--one duck, one pig, and a stone?
Daffy DOES get a little more favoritism, but I always like to say that while he's my #1 favorite, I'm Porky's #1 fan. (...Probably.)
Likewise, a great montage from Chuck Jones’ GAS with transformative, fantastical and abstract staging given the freedom to stand on its own. No excuses needed for it’s theatrics (wheres a similar montage in THE HYPO-CHONDRI-CAT is staged more as a nightmare and not its own thing)
As you can tell from the images above, I just discovered NELLY’S FOLLY and WOW. Noble’s layouts are almost TOO distracting at times, sometimes feeling like individual illustrations rather than something more functional/less flashy, but they’re completely stunning nonetheless
